Trianon and the Churches

Edited by: István Zombori, Budapest 2023

The Friends of Hungary Foundation has already collaborated with the Historia Ecclesiastica Hungarica Foundation in publishing several valuable period documents and publications. In connection with the Trianon anniversary, the preparation of the study volume Trianon and the Churches began, which publishes studies by domestic and foreign authors on how the fate of the Christian churches developed in the parts of the country that were divided beyond the border between 1918 and 1923.

The churches and monastic orders were the only organizations representing the Hungarian people that the new powers could not eliminate, and which played an important role in the preservation of Hungarian-language education and the cultivation of culture. The volume, which contains the studies of 26 authors, is written by distinguished academics, university professors, archivists, clergy, and clergymen of the Evangelical, Greek Catholic, Catholic, Reformed, Unitarian churches and the Benedictine order.
